Aly Cissokho is the latest player to attempt to fill the troublesome left back berth at Aston Villa having signed from Valencia.
Despite having specialist left-backs Joe Bennett, Enda Stevens and Antonio Luna (currently loaned out to Hellas Verona) on the books and also having signed occasional left back Kieran Richardson in the summer, Paul Lambert - who brought in Ryan Bertrand on loan to sort the issue in the second half of last season - has felt the need to plunge into the market again.
Cissokho spent last season on loan at Liverpool but failed to make a positive impact. He struggled to justify his place in the team, losing his place to the likes of Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan. As a consequence he made only 12 Premier League starts with 3 sub appearances, so may still have some adapting to do if he is to hold down a regular first team place.
