Concrete Ron Crumbling: crocked for months

Clubless Ron Vlaar has announced in a lengthy article that he will be out for a number of months due to his dodgy knee.

A hero for Holland in the last World Cup, he is a free agent after leaving Villa Park this summer, having let his contract run down, presumably in pursuit of greener grass.

He'd been something of a liability in his infrequent Premier League appearances last term, provoking genuine anger from the Villa faithful for his performance in the Stoke City match at Villa Park.

He has revealed that, during a charity jaunt to India, he discovered that he had tore his medial Meniscus. He previously had surgery for a similar issuein the winter.

Vlaar reflected: "Here will now be a 4 to 6 weeks period.

"Instead of 4 weeks rehabilitation, it will now take 3 to 4 months.

"On hearing this news it was a defining moment, I was stunned and I struggled to keep my composure.

"Even now when I think about it, the news is very hard to swallow."
