It was believed that Garde had been eager to recruit Gerald Baticle and Bruno Genesio but Lyon put the block on that, leaving Garde's backroom staff short on numbers.
However, following a series of discussions, Round could be announced in time for Saturday's Premier League clash at Goodison.
Garde is reported to be keen to secure the services of someone that has previous experience of coaching in the English top flight. Round has worked with David Moyes at Everton and Manchester United, as well as having a spell at Newcastle United when Sam Allardyce was in charge at St James' Park.
