No Villa players in Roy's England Squad

Wayne Rooney
Roy Hodgson has ignored Villa's English contingent in his latest squad while showing he's not too bothered about the future by selecting uncapped 31 year old Southampton codger Rickie Lambert for the friendly against Scotland.

Inexplicably, Wayne Rooney is also included in the squad despite suffering from hamstring and shoulder injuries which have wrecked his pre-season, while doubts remain about his motivation as his Manchester United future is in serious doubt.

New United acquisition Wilfred Zaha shows the power of having pulling on a red shirt by being promoted to the full squad despite a disastrous tournament for the Under 21s  during which his behaviour was called into question.

Goal shy striker Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young are also United players selected despite lack of any recent decent form.

As well as Young, former Villa stars Kyle Walker, Gary Cahill and James Milner make the squad

England squad:

Goalkeepers: Ben Foster, Joe Hart, John Ruddy

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Phil Jagielka, Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Kyle Walker

Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Jack Wilshere

Wingers: James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young, Wilfried Zaha,

Strikers: Jermain Defoe, Rickie Lambert, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck

Several Villa players are on international duty including Ron Vlarr with Holland, Aleksander Tonev with Bulgaria and of course Christian Benteke with Belgium.
