Newcastle United have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international defender Ciaran Clark.
The 26-year-old, who never lived up to his early potential at Aston Villa joins for "an undisclosed fee" (circa £5 million) and has signed a five-year deal .
Clark came up through the youth system at Villa, making his debut in August 2009.
Injuries and lapses in form ensured he was never what you'd call a fixture in the Villa first team.
