Match Preview: League Cup: Luton Town v Aston Villa

by Dek Hogan

Who are we playing?
Luton Town on Wednesday 10th August at 7.45pm

Where are we playing?
Kenilworth Stadium, 1 Maple Road, Luton, LU4 8AW   It's been a while...

Can I go? Sold out which isn't bad for a Wednesday night in Luton

Easy to get to?
Post Code for Sat-Nav: LU4 8AW . Parking can be a bugger. The train station is fifteen minutes walk away.

Can I watch it on telly
Sky Sports. We may well be on it a lot this season.

Big game?
Meh...

Fans who are convinced we can promoted may well see the League Cup as a distraction we don't need.

The other argument is that losing to lowly Luton would be crippling for morale, so we should go for the win.

Who wouldn't love another day out at Wembley though?

With league games coming thick and fast, RDM may well opt to make wholesale changes from his Wednesday starting line up, whether or not he fancies a tilt at winning the cup. He can justify this as he still getting to know his squad.

Do Sheffield Wednesday boast any famous fans?
There's Nick Owen off of Midlands Today.

We've got the Duke of Cambridge.

So we win.

Who's playing for us?
With two vital home league games looming, it could well be wholesale changes from Sunday's team. This could be good news as it gives a chance for a few to stake their claim. Would love to see Andre start.

Who's playing for them?
Dunno but lower league teams also like to ring the changes in this competition. On the other hand, they may want to keep momentum going after a 3-0 thrashing of Plymouth...

Any useless stats?
Of course, here you go:
  • Our last game at their place was way back on April 1992. We lost 2-0 on Mark Bosnich's debut.
  • We have 15 wins over them while, surprisingly, they've beaten us on 18 occasions. There have been 5 draws
  • The last time we beat Luton at their place was in 1989. Derek Mountfield scored the solitary goal.
    Prediction
A 3-1 win to the Villa.
