The 24-year-old who joined for £1.2million in 2013, but hardly ever played, has signed a two-year contract with the Danish side.
During his 12 months in England, Helenius contracted a bacterial infection which was so severe that the Danish striker was scared he had cancer.
Helenius later revealed that his medical condition left him in agony and prompted a deep depression and fears of death.
It got to the stage where the 23-year-old high-tailed it to former club Aalborg on a season-long loan because he needed to feel safe in his native Denmark.
I would Like to thank all the villa fans who Allways supported me. Was a difficult time but i learned a lot and proud to have played there.
